This brief summarizes a 2013 health systems assessment in South Africa that examined the potential for SILCS introduction in the country. It explores the perceived need for this method, how it could be integrated into the family planning system, and challenges that would need to be addressed prior to introduction.

The goal of PATH’s Healthy Household Initiative (HHI) is to increase the accessibility, affordability, and use of health products by households in low-resource settings. During the past 25 years, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has made progress in improving the health of women and children, thanks to government commitments and policies that prioritize maternal, newborn, child health, and immunization. However, many Congolese families still lack access to high-quality essential health services like lifesaving immunizations. In early 2016, PATH undertook a landscape analysis to better understand the policy environment for immunization in the DRC and to identify opportunities where stronger leadership, improved coordination, and policy change could result in higher routine immunization coverage.

The goal of the Sanitation Service Delivery (SSD) project is to improve urban sanitation outcomes through developing scalable, market-based models that contribute to structural change within the region’s sanitation sector. Findings from user research on portable tenant toilets in Benin are included in this fact sheet. A French version of this fact sheet is also available.

PATH works to improve reproductive health technologies and strengthen services by focusing on specific needs for different stages in women’s lives. This means, for example, ensuring availability of youth-friendly services for adolescents, contraceptive choices for women in their main child-bearing years, and information and services for breast and cervical cancer for mid-adult women.
