As part of PATH’s work in vaccine and pharmaceutical technologies, these reports highlight our research into phase-change materials (PCMs) applicable to vaccine and pharmaceutical cold chain equipment (CCE) including refrigerators and carriers. The reports explore the landscape of suitable PCMs, compatibility of PCMs with materials commonly used in CCE, the thermal characteristics of PCMs, and the implications of PCM characteristics for CCE.

  2. PATH conducted a landscape analysis of cervical cancer screening in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda to clarify opportunities for HPV testing as a primary cervical cancer screening method in these countries. We conducted stakeholder interviews and meetings in each country to discuss the decision-making process for test introduction, potential advantages of HPV testing, and anticipated barriers to introduction and ways to overcome them.

In 2016, PATH’s Digital Health Solutions program supported the Government of Tanzania in conducting a thorough landscape and gap analysis to identify the greatest opportunities to address key data challenges impeding health system performance. The process culminated in a government-driven data use investment road map for Tanzania. This report summarizes those findings and recommendations.

PATH assesses diagnostic needs, landscapes potential solutions, and determines appropriate strategies to improve diagnostic testing to support schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiases control and elimination programs. PATH submitted an application to the World Health Organization (WHO) 21st Expert Committee on the Selection and Use of Essential Medicines to include oxygen on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines (EML) and the List of Essential Medicines for Children (EMLc) as a medical gas to clarify its importance as a medicine for the management of hypoxemia. This summary document highlights the proposed additions to the EML/EMLc.
