With the aim of galvanizing efforts to improve vaccination in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), PATH partnered with the newly elected government in 2019 to convene governors and leaders from each of the DRC’s 26 provinces for the National Forum on Immunization and Polio Eradication. At the Forum, government leaders discussed joint efforts to strengthen the country’s immunization system and advance progress toward polio eradication, and ultimately signed the Kinshasa Declaration on Immunization and Polio Eradication—an unprecedented show of commitment made possible by PATH's advocacy.

  2. Tuberculosis (TB) is a leading cause of illness worldwide. The WHO ranks Vietnam as the 16th highest TB-burdened country in the world. Since 2016, PATH and Johnson & Johnson have been working together to address the high TB burden among children in Vietnam under the Breath For Life project. In 2020, we are launching Breath For Life 2.0 where we leverage learnings and results from Breath for Life to scale up the model across Vietnam and advocate for policy change at the national level.

  3. Subcutaneous DMPA (DMPA-SC) is a three-month injectable contraceptive that is easy to use and uniquely suited for self-injection. Demonstration and practice injections are a key part of training programs for both health workers and self-injecting clients.   4. By leveraging digital platforms, family planning programs can integrate new approaches that help reduce the costs, time, and inconvenience associated with traditional classroom training. PATH has recently developed digital training resources for health workers and clients learning to administer the injectable contraceptive, subcutaneous DMPA (DMPA-SC).A 10-lesson DMPA-SC eLearning course for health workers is available in English and French and can be taken on computer or mobile device with internet access. Content includes an emphasis on informed choice counseling, new lessons on calculating the injection date and conducting follow-up visits, and updated information on training clients to self-inject.In addition to the eLearning course, PATH and John Snow, Inc. have developed short 5- to 7-minute DMPA-SC training videos for both self-injection clients and health workers.
