This fact sheet describes PATH’s work in collaboration with the government of India and other partners to expand use of fortified rice in India. Studies have shown that fortified rice is a powerful intervention to combat micronutrient malnutrition, especially among women and young children

Research highlights that Indian children are among the worst sufferers of malnutrition that includes vitamin and mineral deficiencies. PATH collaborated with the Government of Karnataka, and partners to increase the spread of fortified rice under the Mid Day Meal (MDM) in government schools of Karnataka. This study assesses the impact of consumption of fortified rice on nutritional and health indicators among school children in Karnataka.

This case study examines how PATH's advocacy and policy team works in decentralized government settings—countries where health care delivery and budgeting power is delegated to the district level—to move the needle on policies that protect the health of women and children. It highlights notable successes from the subnational level in Kenya and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This case study details how PATH and partners led civil society advocates in a call for the East African Community (EAC) partner states to emphasize the importance of investing in health R&D in a 2018 joint communiqué—providing a basis for governments to be held accountable for upholding health financing commitments.

This case study examines the steps PATH took to highlight gaps in immunization coverage and funding in Uganda, advocacy which resulted in almost doubling the government funding for procurement of traditional vaccines across the country.
