On August 3, 2026, PATH signed the three-year Sustainable and Integrated Data Systems (SiDS) grant funded by The Global Fund Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to support ministries of health in Senegal, Ghana, and Zambia. This key technical assistance will be instrumental in supporting the development, alignment, implementation, and monitoring of small-scale integration projects to protect and advance gains in surveillance efforts. The project will work with the ministries of health and the Global Fund country teams to identify priority surveillance integration activities, leveraging resources from existing and planned Global Fund grants (cycles seven and eight).
This technical assistance mechanism focuses on sustainable progress by strengthening governance and foundational surveillance systems to foster and advance integrated surveillance. Beginning with a landscape assessment of current disease-specific surveillance systems within primary health services, PATH will identify key links between pandemic and disease-specific surveillance to streamline these processes and strength data collection and analysis.
The SiDaS project’s embedded staffing model provides unique opportunities to support ministries of health, national malaria programs, public health institutes, and other key government stakeholders to develop lasting systems. PATH’s work will focus on governance and policies supporting integrated data systems; digital data systems that collect, store, and manage data; and data quality improvement efforts to support analysis and interpretation of credible data for decision-making.

PATH’s Malaria and Neglected Tropical Disease team has extensive experience supporting ministries of health and national malaria programs across Africa, especially in supporting surveillance, data systems strengthening and digitization. The team is excited to advance sustainable progress in Zambia, Ghana, and Senegal and looks forward to working closely with Ministries of Health and The Global Fund team.
