This issue of PATH Today features a profile of PATH donor Miriam Sevy and her travels with PATH to Kenya, information about our work in Kenya, and an update on our new headquarters building in downtown Seattle. The issue also highlights Ultra Rice® winning the Tech Award, PATH's profile in a new book about the importance of individual donors, and the year-end matching challenge.

PATH’s Safe Water Project is exploring the effectiveness of commercial strategies for providing household water treatment and storage products to low-income consumers in Cambodia and other developing countries. This project brief summarizes the results of three studies—a consumer study, a product scan, and an analysis of distribution channels—conducted from April to December 2008 to inform the development and implementation of a safe water pilot project in Cambodia.

This policy and practice update provides an overview of the demonstration project implemented by PATH and partners in the Patna and Muzaffarpur districts of Bihar and in the Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. In this issue, we describe the project and field activities and share some selected findings from our interactions with communities and health care providers.

This set of fact sheets details technical activities of PATH's Japanese encephalitis project, with an aim to inform future efforts and programs. The fact sheets were developed as a supplement to PATH's Japanese Encephalitis Project: Collaboration and Commitment to Protect Asia's Children. Topics covered include surveillance of disease burden and disability, cost-effectiveness analysis, diagnostics, advocacy, vaccine development, and vaccine introduction.

This issue of Directions in Global Health features PATH’s work to optimize vaccine supply systems, advance development of malaria vaccine candidates, prevent postpartum hemorrhage to save mothers’ lives, address health needs in Tanzania, and use monitoring and evaluation systems to further PATH’s mission. It also highlights two prestigious awards that PATH recently received.
