This report summarizes the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination program implemented in Peru by PATH, Instituto de Investigación Nutricional, and Ministerio de Salud de Peru, Estrategia Sanitaria Nacional de Inmunizaciones through the HPV Vaccines: Evidence for Impact project. HPV vaccine was made available to all girls aged nine years or older in grade 5 in selected parts of the country. The purpose of the study was to investigate operational issues related to HPV vaccination of young adolescent girls, aimed at identifying effective and cost-effective strategies. The publication will be useful for policymakers and program managers around the world, and especially in Latin America, who are designing public-sector HPV vaccination programs.
