This report summarizes the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination program implemented in Uganda by PATH, the Uganda National Expanded Program on Immunization of the Ministry of Health, and the Child Health and Development Centre, through the HPV Vaccines: Evidence for Impact project. HPV vaccine was made available to almost 10,000 girls in select parts of the country. The purpose of the study was to investigate operational issues related to HPV vaccination of young adolescent girls, aimed at identifying effective and cost-effective strategies. This report interprets the results and summarizes helpful lessons for policymakers and program managers, especially those in sub-Saharan Africa, looking to shape their own HPV vaccination programs.
