The objective of this project Optimize assessment was to understand the structure, scope, and quality of the vaccine supply chain for fee-based immunization services and to provide recommendations for strengthening management and monitoring the quality of the vaccine supply chain for fee-based immunization.

This report assesses global readiness to fight cervical cancer using new approaches and new technologies, especially in regions where the disease is a common killer. It underscores the urgent need for the global community to prioritize cervical cancer prevention and control on global health and development agendas.

PATH’s Safe Water Project joined a number of partners in an effort to monitor and better understand the increased use of a water-treatment product, WaterGuard, among groups of new mothers in Malawi. The chlorine-based water treatment product was made available to pregnant women at antenatal care clinics as part of a hygiene kit. Uptake and use of the product rose sharply, not only among these women, but also among friends and relatives. PATH conducted qualitative research involving in-depth interviews to better understand why this uptake occurred.

This market assessment aims to increase the awareness of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies worldwide about the opportunities and potential markets that exist for low-cost and effective vaccines against enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC). In addition, it provides donors and commercial investors with a better understanding of the potential risks, rewards, and gaps in knowledge relative to these opportunities as they consider their own investment strategies. The resulting analysis demonstrates that ETEC vaccines may represent a moderate opportunity for industry investment with an estimated annual revenue potential of more than US$600 million ten years after global launch.
