The sixth annual policy report from GHTC outlines actions the United States can take to reduce deaths, extend lives, and secure healthier futures by supporting research for new health tools. The report highlights the need for a comprehensive, sustainable approach to financing global health R&D.

PATH is a leader in the innovation, promotion, and adoption of diagnostic technologies to support malaria elimination and ultimately eradication. As a whole, malaria-related projects and programs at PATH form a core of organizational expertise and strong infrastructure to accelerate the development and adoption of new and improved malaria diagnostics.

PATH’s Scale-Up project seeks to reduce cervical cancer incidence through improved and expanded screening using human papillomavirus (HPV) testing. In Central America, the project is working to establish HPV tests as the primary screening mechanism for cervical precancer and cancer. The project is also assessing opportunities for introducing HPV tests in three African countries.

Emerging evidence in Kenya and other sub-Saharan African countries reveals the importance of using community-based approaches to ensure that all pregnant women have access to preventive malaria care. In Nairobi, Kenya, PATH convened government officials, leading experts, and civil society representatives to share research and discuss recommendations for policy change.

This toolkit provides information about the UN Commission on Life-Saving Commodities (the Commission), 13 priority commodities, and examples of how its ten recommendations to improve access and availability are being applied globally and within countries. It also provides advocacy resources for utilizing the Commission platform to raise awareness and engage stakeholders in addressing commodity-related gaps in policy.
