This toolkit, written by the Digital Health Solutions team at PATH, provides information about currently available mobile messaging technology solutions, as well as things to consider when selecting a vendor and deploying an mHealth campaign. It was designed for project implementers using mobile messaging campaigns to encourage healthy behaviors in low- and middle-income countries.

In Kenya, malaria in pregnancy continues to contribute to high maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality. By translating emerging evidence on community-based distribution of antimalarial medicine into policy action, policymakers in Kenya have the opportunity to significantly decrease malaria-related mortality and morbidity during pregnancy, safeguarding the health and lives of countless women and newborns. This brief describes recommendations and policies at the global level and in Kenya and identifies ways in which to expand access to preventive treatment for mothers.

PATH was commissioned by Crucell to improve understanding of the impact on health care waste management of a new presentation of liquid pentavalent vaccine targeted for use in developing countries. This report details the findings of a quantitative and qualitative analysis PATH conducted on the differences between delivery of Quinvaxem® in the Uniject™ injection system and delivery in a vial using a syringe.

In Kisumu, Kenya, PATH developed a two-phased approach to increase coverage of malaria in pregnancy prevention activities and strengthen antenatal care. One approach to the problem is intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy with sulfadoxine pyrimethamine, an antimalarial safe for use in pregnancy.
