PATH appoints Dr. Jeremy Farrar as Chief of Asia, Middle East, and Europe regional division
Geneva, Switzerland—PATH is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jeremy Farrar, a globally recognized leader in public health and clinical medicine, as Chief of its Asia, Middle East, and Europe regional division. In this role, Dr. Farrar will join PATH’s Executive Leadership Team and oversee the organization’s work across a dynamic and critical set of regions central to advancing global health. He will join the organization on October 1 and be based in Geneva.
Dr. Farrar brings decades of experience at the forefront of global health, including leadership roles as Director of the Clinical Research Unit at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Vietnam, Assistant Director-General at the World Health Organization (WHO), and Director of Wellcome. Throughout his career, he has led transformative efforts at the intersection of clinical research, public health, and innovation. His work has spanned infectious diseases, noncommunicable diseases, emerging health threats, pandemic preparedness, workforce development, and health systems strengthening to address some of the world’s most pressing health challenges. At PATH, Dr. Farrar will lead the organization’s work across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, deepening partnerships with local communities, governments, multilateral organizations, academic institutions, private-sector organizations, and philanthropic partners to advance sustainable health solutions. He will work closely with PATH’s country and regional teams to support locally driven priorities and strengthen collaboration across the region.
