Inside Global Health | Lifeline: The Story of PEPFAR, the Greatest Humanitarian Initiative of Our Time
In 2003, the United States made a bet that changed the course of a pandemic. Over the next two decades, The President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) helped save more than 26 million lives and built health systems that countries around the world still rely on today.
On November 12, join PATH for a special edition of Inside Global Health featuring journalist and author John Donnelly, whose new book Lifeline tells the story of PEPFAR and the people who helped turn a bold vision into one of the most impactful global health initiatives in history.
In conversation with two characters in the book—Dr. Barbara Marston, former infectious disease specialist at the CDC, and Nomi Fuchs-Montgomery, former Senior Technical Advisor for PEPFAR—Donnelly will explore how PEPFAR came together, what it took to deliver on its promise, and why those lessons matter now, from building lasting support for global health to protecting progress that took decades to achieve.
The discussion will be moderated by Kate Davidson, leader in strategic communications and global health, and will include time for audience Q&A and a reception with fellow members of the global health community.
Seats are limited.
