If you drop by our product development shop in Seattle this summer, you may spot some of our technicians painstakingly combing through samples of rice, sorting what looks like a few stray black grains from among the white.

Over the years, data from many countries show that when the death rates of children ages five and younger decline, fertility rates also eventually drop. In other words, when children survive, parents have smaller families.

We like to think of our blog as a place where we not only tell PATH’s story, but also celebrate success in global health and development no matter the source. Today we’ve got a variation on that theme: we’re happy to announce that, thanks to the inspirational people who tell their stories here every week, the PATH blog has won honorable mention for best blog in the 2013 PR Daily Awards.
