PATH’s most compelling milestones of 2012 are featured in our just-released 2012 annual report—innovations that directly or indirectly touched the lives of more than 118 million people around the world.

Innovation in Motion highlights our work in more than 70 countries. The report is available online at or as a printable PDF in our publications catalog.

Focus on family health, threats to child survival

The report showcases our work in three of our key focus areas:

  • Diarrheal disease and pneumonia. We advanced an investigational new drug to beat diarrhea and a vaccine candidate against the most common cause of severe pneumonia, helped 14 countries introduce rotavirus or pneumococcal vaccines, and expanded access to clean water and prevention and treatment strategies against these top childhood killers.
  • Family health. Working with our partners, we provided vaccines to protect more than 48 million people from meningitis A, pledged to deliver up to 12 million doses of an injectable contraceptive for women, and brought an affordable new screening test to market that detects the primary cause of cervical cancer.
  • Malaria. We took aim at malaria from multiple fronts: training health workers in new ways to reduce transmission, advancing a promising vaccine candidate proven to cut malaria episodes in infants and toddlers, and beginning production of a key drug ingredient to provide a more dependable supply of the top malaria treatment.

The report also features our innovations in technology development and country-based health interventions, a summary of our 2012 finances, and information about our global presence, supporters, and leadership.
