PATH research
PATH conducts research around the world to advance inclusive public health and address community-defined health priorities. PATH’s research spans early laboratory and basic science research to social science and operations research through phase 3 clinical trials. In partnership with governments, nongovernmental organizations, manufacturers, academic institutions, and communities, PATH’s research is conducted in over 50 countries. PATH research generates evidence to support product development and scale-up, system strengthening, and policy development on national and global levels.
Our case studies offer examples of PATH research.
PATH policies governing human subjects research
PATH is committed to the highest scientific and ethical principles and professional standards in the human subjects research (HSR) it conducts and supports. PATH’s research complies with federal regulations, international guidelines, and institutional policies pertaining to the protection of human subjects. PATH’s research also complies with applicable country, state, and local laws that govern human subjects research at the sites where the research is conducted.
PATH policies on investigator conflict of interest
PATH is committed to ensuring the integrity and objectivity of all research activities it conducts or supports and the trust of research participants, research communities, and the public at large. To that end, PATH complies with investigator COI policies for research that is funded by the US Public Health Service (US PHS) and has policies for managing investigator COI for human subjects research that is not funded by the US PHS. Both policies require investigator reporting of significant interests so that they can be managed, reduced or eliminated.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) meeting minutes
To ensure transparency and public access to information about the biosafety oversight of research activities involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules, PATH provides IBC meeting minutes to document fulfillment of IBC review and oversight responsibilities as described in Section IV-B-2-b of the NIH Guidelines.
