PATH Malaria Webinars
We hold regular PATH malaria webinars on a variety of topics, featuring speakers from across the global malaria community.
New tools for improving detection and treatment of Plasmodium vivax (P. vivax) malaria, like single-dose tafenoquine and point-of-care diagnostics, are expanding access to radical cure treatment options—but turning innovation into impact requires more than approval. This session brings together country experiences and global insights on the policies, tools, and operational systems needed to ensure people can reach the care they need. We’ll explore the practical steps that scale approval of new innovations into real-world access and the progress being made in the fight against P. vivax malaria.
With new approaches like seasonal and perennial malaria chemoprevention, and the opportunity to integrate with vaccines and other emerging tools, we’re entering a new phase in malaria prevention. Recent research and country experience have shown what’s possible — but scaling impact requires overcoming key challenges in policy, and financing, and delivery.
This webinar will explore the future of malaria chemoprevention: how strategies are evolving, what we’re learning from implementation, and what’s needed to deliver these tools more widely and equitably.
With the rollout of the world’s first malaria vaccine now underway in several African countries, we are entering a new era in the fight against malaria. Following pilot implementations in Ghana, Kenya, and Malawi, broader introductions are now taking shape, marking a critical milestone in malaria prevention efforts.
This webinar explores what comes next for malaria vaccine development and access. Experts discuss the future pipeline of malaria vaccines, the challenges and opportunities in integrating vaccines into immunization programs, and the complexities of forecasting and manufacturing supply to meet demand—for a dynamic discussion on how these factors shape equitable access and the global effort to reduce malaria’s burden.
On March 23, we held a webinar on malaria vaccines and opportunities and challenges over the next 5 years. The first malaria vaccine to be recommended and prequalified by WHO is moving into broader implementation, while a leading malaria vaccine candidate is in Phase 3 evaluation. Other immunization approaches, including monoclonal antibodies and mRNA vaccines, are in development. This webinar explored key challenges to vaccine development and access—financial, scientific, and delivery—with perspectives offered by experts in their respective fields.
On December 8, we held a webinar on reaching communities with malaria control interventions, and we were joined by representatives from the Zambia National Malaria Elimination Centre, Impact Santé Afrique, AMREF Health Africa, and Catholic Relief Services. During the session, a number of topics were discussed, including how to scale innovative approaches, enhancing access to quality malaria diagnosis, expanding delivery approaches for chemoprevention, and how to activate civil society organizations and communities.
On September 27, we held a webinar on the use of data to inform decision-making. During the webinar, our team of experts at PATH discussed approaches and best practices for malaria modeling and data analytics, lessons learned in collaborating with national program managers through case studies from Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as techniques to strengthen capacity-building.
