Join the AMR Reel Challenge: One minute, one message to fight antimicrobial resistance

Youth can play a critical role in raising awareness around antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and promoting responsible antibiotic use. Join the AMR Reel Challenge and contribute to global advocacy efforts to combat AMR.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most pressing global health challenges of our time. The misuse and overuse of antibiotics in humans, animals, and agriculture have led to the emergence of drug-resistant pathogens, threatening the effectiveness of life-saving treatments. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared AMR as a top ten global public health threat, requiring a multi-sectoral and multi-level response.

Despite growing scientific and policy-level attention, public awareness of AMR remains low, particularly among young people and vulnerable communities. Engaging young people in AMR awareness and advocacy is critical not only because they are future health care providers, scientists, and decision-makers but also because they are powerful communicators in the digital age.

PATH-CHRI, in collaboration with IIIT-Delhi, Indian Medical Association, EngenderHealth, World Health Organization, and ReAct is launching the AMR Reel Challenge to harness the creativity and digital fluency of students to produce short, engaging reels that raise awareness about AMR and promote responsible antibiotic use. It aligns with the objectives of the Global Action Plan on AMR and contributes to India’s National Action Plan on AMR, particularly in the domain of public awareness and education.

The competition aligns with the theme for World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) 2025: “Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future.” This year’s theme is a strong reminder that AMR is already here, and we need coordinated action and a concerted push to address this threat before it gets worse.
