Tirsit Grishaw Legesse, MSc

Country Director, Ethiopia

Tirsit Grishaw Legesse is PATH’s country director for Ethiopia, overseeing projects in maternal and child health, tuberculosis, and digital public health.

Ms. Legesse has extensive experience in developing new opportunities and leading, managing, and overseeing a range of development programs with budgets of up to €30 million. She currently serves on the Ethiopia ministry of health’s working groups on sexual and reproductive health.

Before joining PATH in 2015, Ms. Legesse served as country director at the international development and advocacy organization Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevolkerung (DSW) and held senior positions at GIZ-Ethiopia. At DSW, she built a portfolio of more than 11 projects with a focus on economic empowerment, social and political governance, human resource development, sexual and reproductive health, and gender.

Ms. Legesse has an MSc in sustainable development with a specialization in development management from the University of London’s Imperial College and School of African and Oriental Studies and a BA in sociology and social administration from Addis Ababa University.
