ProVIC Champion Communities: Preventing Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV in the Democratic Republic of Congo
In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), PATH and our partners are implementing the DRC Integrated HIV/AIDS Project (ProVIC), which uses a community-based approach called “champion communities” for reaching mothers to provide them with comprehensive HIV services. This case study examines the landscape of HIV in the DRC and the approach, strategies, challenges, successes, and recommendations of the ProVIC project.
