PATH names Kathy Cahill as vice president for International Development

Seattle, February 6, 2015–PATH has named Kathy Cahill as its vice president for International Development, effective March 2, 2015. Cahill will be based in PATH's Seattle headquarters.

As vice president for PATH's International Development division, Cahill will direct strategy development and implementation across the organization's international presence in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. She also will serve as a member of PATH's executive leadership team.

Cahill's career in public health includes experience across sectors, from government to the private sector to nonprofits. Cahill has more than 20 years experience in public health with a background in leadership of programs for sexually transmitted infections, childhood immunization, HIV, noncommunicable diseases, and maternal and child health. Most recently, she served as interim vice president for Public Health Impact at PATH, a position now held by Dr. David Fleming.

Previously, Cahill was deputy director of Integrated Health Solutions for Global Health at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she led development of the foundation's strategy for tobacco control, was program officer for health systems, and deputy director for Integrated Delivery Services.

Prior to that, Cahill worked at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as director for Policy, Planning, and Evaluation and was responsible for agency annual budget strategy and policy development. Her previous role at the agency was division director for Immunization Service Delivery, with responsibilities that included implementation of a White House initiative on increasing childhood immunization rates in the United States. She led many new agency wide initiatives at the CDC including CDC's first bioterrorism grant program to 50 states.

Cahill is senior partner and founder of AHISMA Group, a global health company focused on health systems strengthening, policy development, program assessment, and monitoring and evaluation of infectious and noncommunicable disease programs in low-resource settings.

Cahill holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Washington University.
