Join PATH at the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene conference
PATH will join an international gathering of scientists, clinicians, and health professionals at the 62nd annual meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) in Washington, DC, from November 13 to 17.
Malaria will be a key focus of the meeting, and PATH staff will highlight our innovative work on malaria prevention, elimination, diagnostics, treatment, vaccine development, and more.
The ASTMH is a worldwide organization representing researchers, program professionals, and others with interests in the prevention and control of tropical diseases through research and education.
Our featured work
During the conference, PATH staff will host or participate in the following events, sessions, symposia, and poster presentations focused on malaria. PATH staff will also present work on maternal health, meningitis, onchocerciasis, typhoid, and yellow fever.
Events
Daily
Each day of the conference, PATH and the ASTMH will host a live Twitter chat featuring malaria experts, including Dr. Carlos C. (Kent) Campbell, director of the Malaria Control Program at PATH.
November 12
The Malaria Control and Evaluation Partnership in Africa (MACEPA), a program at PATH, will participate in ASTMH Hill Day, meeting with representatives on Capitol Hill to make the case for tropical medicine research and funding.
PATH will coordinate a communicators and social media networking event to share best practices and ideas for social media and collaboration. 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lebanese Taverna, 2641 Connecticut Ave. NW.
November 13
PATH's Diagnostics for Malaria Elimination Toward Eradication project will host a meeting with malaria experts to refine product specifications for next-generation diagnostics intended to address the needs of malaria elimination settings. 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel. This is a closed event.
November 15
PATH will host a congressional staff roundtable to provide an update on new tools and approaches in the fight against malaria, and the need for continued US government funding and political support. 10 a.m. to noon at the Congressional Visitors Center, Capitol Hill. Closed event.
PATH is cosponsoring a President's Malaria Initiative reception to honor National Malaria Control Program officials and other key partners in the fight against malaria. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel. Closed event.
