PATH would like to express condolences to the family and friends of Representative Donald Payne (D-NJ), who passed away on March 6 at the age of 77 after a battle with colon cancer.

Representative Payne was a dedicated advocate of global health issues, serving as the ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, and Human Rights and the founding member and co-chairman of the Congressional Caucus on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Representative Payne,” said Rachel Wilson, PATH’s Senior Director of Policy and Advocacy. “He was not only a champion of global health issues on Capitol Hill, but also a friend and colleague to PATH.”

He is remembered by PATH as a true catalyst for global health whose leadership and support of US foreign assistance programs helped improve the lives of millions of people around the world.
