Point-of-care technologies research network
The Center for Point-of-Care Diagnostics for Global Health (GHDx Center) is managed by PATH in collaboration with the University of Washington (UW) Departments of Global Health, of Laboratory Medicine, and of Medicine (Division of Infectious Diseases).
PATH has unique and extensive experience working with public- and private-sector partners at all stages of the product development, field-testing, and introduction process. Combined with the UW’s experience in training in low-resource settings, this partnership delivers the resources to reach the project’s ultimate goal: to improve health among underserved populations worldwide by increasing the availability, accessibility, and affordability of essential point-of-care diagnostic tests.
Point-of-care technologies research network
The GHDx Center is supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Engineering (NIBIB). In late 2007, NIBIB funded a network of four centers working to build expertise in the development of integrated systems that address unmet clinical needs in point-of-care testing. The Point-of-Care Technologies Research Network includes:
- The Center for Point-of-Care Diagnostics for Global Health
(PATH) - The Point-of-Care Center for Emerging Neurotechnologies
(University of Cincinnati) - The Center for Rapid Multi-pathogen Detection for Point-of-Care Technologies and National Disaster Readiness
(University of California, Davis) - The Center for Point-of-Care Technologies for Sexually Transmitted Diseases
(Johns Hopkins University)
