Neisseria Meningitidis: An Overview of the Carriage State

This article, published in The Journal of Medical Microbiology, reviews currently available information about the meningococcal carriage state and identifies where gaps exist in the body of knowledge. The authors conclude that studies of the meningococcal carriage state are still needed to better understand the population biology of meningococci and to determine how protection against meningococcal disease is established.
