Serological Basis for Use of Meningococcal Serogroup C Conjugate Vaccines in the United Kingdom: Reevaluation of Correlates of Protection
This article, published in Infection and Immunity, reviews the serological basis for use of meningococcal serogroup C conjugate vaccines in the United Kingdom and applies the criteria to toddlers to evaluate immune response. The results indicate that the majority of toddlers with a serum bactericidal assay using rabbit complement titer between 8 and 64, and some of those with a serum bactericidal assay using human complement result of less than 4, have mounted a protective immune response with the induction of immunological memory.
