State of the World's Vaccines and Immunization, Third Edition
This report focuses on the major developments in vaccines and immunization since 2000. Part 1 examines the impact of immunization on efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goals. It looks at the development and use of vaccines and the safeguards that have been put in place to ensure their safety, efficacy, and quality; discusses both the cost of scaling up immunization coverage and efforts to ensure that the achievements are sustainable in the long term; and looks beyond 2015 to likely changes in the immunization landscape. Part 2 describes more than 20 vaccine-preventable diseases and reviews progress since 2000 in efforts to protect populations against these diseases through the use of vaccines.
