Intercountry Meningitis Meeting: Preparing for the Next Epidemic Seasons, Mali, October 2006
This article, published in the World Health Organization's Weekly Epidemiological Record, summarizes an intercountry meeting on enhanced surveillance and responses to meningitis epidemics held in October 2006 in Bamako, Mali. More than 80 participants from countries in the African Meningitis Belt and supporting partners examined the results of epidemiological and laboratory surveillance undertaken during the previous epidemic season and reviewed preparedness and response strategies. Participants also assessed the tools used in the past season and those to be used in the coming season.
