Malaria Vaccine Technology Roadmap
This report on the Malaria Vaccine Technology Roadmap establishes a strategic plan for developing and distributing a safe, effective, and affordable vaccine to prevent malaria in children under five years of age in sub-Saharan Africa and other highly endemic regions. The Roadmap outlines how the malaria vaccine community can work together to develop and license a first-generation malaria vaccine by 2015, which would have a protective efficacy of more than 50 percent and provide protection for longer than one year, and a second-generation vaccine by 2025, which would have a protective efficacy of more than 80 percent and provide protection for longer than four years.
