Streptococcus pneumoniae Comparative System

This website contains data from a PATH-sponsored study on sequencing the genomes of five geographically diverse Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates. The sequencing was performed by The Institute for Genome Research (TIGR, now known as the J. Craig Venter Institute) and involved an analysis of clinically important strains including serotypes 1 and 5, which are more prevalent in developing countries than in the United States and Europe. The data will provide valuable information for comparing the genomic sequences of developing-world pneumococcal isolates with those from industrialized nations.
