WHO Global Action Plan to Minimize Poliovirus Facility-Associated Risk After Type-Specific Eradication of Wild Polioviruses and Sequential Cessation of Oral Polio Vaccine Use

This is the third edition of the Global Action Plan for eradicating polio. It includes suggested guidelines for the safe handling and containment of poliovirus infectious and potentially infectious materials, with the goal of reduced risk of potential outbreaks from undetected or newly emerged circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus and facility-associated reintroduction of wild or oral polio vaccine/Sabin polioviruses. This is meant to be an evolving document, subject to revisions as new information emerges relevant to achieving the appropriate balance between community risk and the systems and controls to manage that risk.
