Strengthening Routine Immunization Systems to Improve Global Vaccination Coverage

This article, published in the British Medical Bulletin, outlines the components of a successful routine immunization system, the path towards improving existing immunization program infrastructure, and the socioeconomic effects of incomplete childhood vaccination. The authors conclude that although global vaccination coverage has substantially improved, vast challenges remain and opportunities exist to strengthen routine immunization systems with increased funding opportunities and global partnerships.
