Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety, 30 November – 1 December 2016: Safety of Typhoid Vaccines

This article, published in the Weekly Epidemiological Record, reports the outcome of a meeting of the World Health Organization’s independent vaccine safety committee where they reviewed the current safety data of three generations of typhoid vaccines—the live oral Ty21a vaccine, parenteral Vi polysaccharide, and conjugated Vi polysaccharide vaccines. The committee noted limitations to the available data for the typhoid conjugate vaccines and recommended conducting further safety monitoring studies.
