Typhoid in Africa and Vaccine Deployment

This article, published in The Lancet Global Health, summarizes the findings of the Typhoid Surveillance in Africa Programme (TSAP), current limitations with diagnostics and surveillance, and the need for new diagnostics and vaccines in the face of growing drug resistance. The author argues that TSAP data reveals the urgent need for further surveillance, better diagnostics, economic modeling, and vaccine efficacy studies for decision-making in the region.
