Immunogenicity and Safety of Measles-Mumps-Rubella Vaccine Delivered by Disposable-Syringe Jet Injector in Healthy Brazilian Infants: A Randomized Non-Inferiority Study

This article, published in Contemporary Clinical Trials, reports on a study that compared the immunogenicity of the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine in infants when delivered by a disposable-syringe jet injector versus by needle and syringe. The authors found that vaccination via jet injector produced inferior measles protection as compared to needle and syringe delivery, but produced non-inferior levels of rubella protection. Although the jet injector device used in this study has since been superseded by an updated device, the authors believe that these results are important for the continued improvement and evaluation of disposable-syringe jet injectors.
