Impact of Rotavirus Vaccination in Germany: Rotavirus Surveillance, Hospitalization, Side Effects and Comparison of Vaccines

This article, published in the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, examines the impact of national introduction of rotavirus vaccination in Germany. Rotavirus-related hospital admissions of children under one year of age decreased by 60 percent in areas with 64 percent or higher rotavirus vaccination coverage and decreased 19 percent in low vaccination coverage areas. The authors conclude that the rotavirus vaccine is efficient in reducing rotavirus hospitalizations. ABSTRACT ONLY.
