Managing Sharps Waste in Andhra Pradesh: Introduction and Scale-Up of a Sharps Waste Management Program

This case study describes the sharps waste management component of an immunization systems strengthening project conducted in Andhra Pradesh, India, and describes key developments in both the pilot and scale-up phases of the project. It also describes the overall impact of the project and identifies key lessons learned to guide the development and scale-up of other injection safety programs. The process and tools used in Andhra Pradesh may provide practical and useful information for others considering similar projects in India and other countries.
