Meeting of the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety, December 2010: Rotavirus Vaccine and Intussusception
This article, from the Weekly Epidemiological Record, reports on the outcome of a meeting of the World Health Organization's independent, authoritative vaccine safety committee where they reviewed postmarketing surveillance that indicated the possibility of an increased risk of intussusception after the first dose of rotavirus vaccine. However, they also noted that the benefits of rotavirus vaccination in preventing rotavirus gastroenteritis and its consequences are substantial.
