Finding the Final Fifth: Inequalities in Immunisation
Despite global progress, there is still a long way to go until the full benefits of immunization are enjoyed by all children. In 2010, almost one in five children – nearly 20 million – did not receive the most basic vaccinations that all children are meant to receive. This report takes a close look at health inequalities related to immunization coverage. It identifies who this final fifth of unimmunized children are and why they are not being reached. It also outlines a number of recommendations for governments, development partners, and the global community to address inequities in immunization coverage.
