This article, published in the Weekly Epidemiological Record, presents data collected from 43 countries by the global surveillance network for rotavirus from January through December 2009. The data indicate that rotavirus disease is still a significant global health problem and that the use of vaccines may help to reduce the burden of rotavirus disease.
