A Hypothetical Explanatory Model for Meningococcal Meningitis in the African Meningitis Belt
Currently, no explanation exists for the epidemic pattern of meningitis in the African meningitis belt, in spite of recent progress in disease surveillance. Such a model would be conducive to mathematically mapping vaccine strategies or predicting epidemics. This article, published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases, presents a hypothetical explanatory model for epidemic meningococcal meningitis.
