The Necessity of Vaccines
This editorial, published by Nature Reviews Microbiology, reports that although vaccines are one of the most cost-effective ways to protect against infectious diseases, immunization rates have fallen due to concerns about vaccine safety, which has resulted in unnecessary suffering and death. The journal states that in order to restore immunization rates to levels conducive to public health, scientists and medical health professionals must undertake a clear and open campaign to educate parents.
