About the Vaccine Resource Library
PATH's Vaccine Resource Library (VRL) seeks to gather the world's best immunization resources in a single portal. The VRL offers a wide variety of high-quality, scientifically accurate documents and links to resources on specific diseases and topics in immunization. It is geared toward health professionals in the developing and industrialized worlds, as well as journalists, policymakers, community leaders, parents, and anyone else interested in vaccine-related resources.
The resources found on the VRL are collected from a variety of sources, such as news media, scientific journals, and leaders in public health, as well as suggestions from VRL users, and are reviewed by scientific and technical staff. In addition to resources developed at PATH, the VRL contains materials published by international leaders in public health, including the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization (WHO), the GAVI Alliance, and many others. Key resources provide users with leading resources on specific topics within the VRL. These resources range from seminal documents to updated WHO recommendations.
The VRL aims to provide useful information on numerous diseases and vaccines. However, the VRL is not meant to be a comprehensive resource for information on all diseases and vaccines, but rather reflects those being addressed by PATH projects. There are many great general resources on vaccines and immunization in the VRL that can provide you with guidance on diseases and vaccines that are not specifically covered. Please check back as we continue to expand our resources to include additional diseases and vaccines.
Originally, the VRL served as the website for PATH's Children's Vaccine Program (CVP). Established in 1998, CVP worked to promote equal access to new and lifesaving vaccines worldwide. In partnership with the world's leading immunization experts and national bodies, CVP aimed to repair crumbling immunization programs, build human and financial capacity within countries, and introduce new vaccines and immunization technologies. Although CVP is no longer active, the program's groundbreaking work in vaccines and immunization continues in other programs at PATH. This report provides an overview of CVP achievements worldwide, with a special focus on China, India, and Indonesia.
The VRL is maintained by a team of PATH staff members working on different vaccine- and immunization-related projects at PATH. Although PATH's Vaccine Development Global Program leads the overall management of the VRL, it is truly a cross-programmatic effort, drawing input and assistance from across the organization. PATH's work on the VRL is indirectly supported by the vaccine- and immunization-related projects at PATH through the staff time spent making updates to the website. These projects receive funding from a variety of sources, including private foundations, governments, and individuals. The VRL does not receive direct financial support from the pharmaceutical industry, the US government, or any other funder. Learn more about PATH's sources of funding.
