- Communities for Healthy Hearts: Improving Hypertension Management and Control in Vietnam
PATH is collaborating with the Novartis Foundation to introduce an innovative healthcare delivery model designed to improve hypertension management and control in Vietnam. The project aims to improve blood pressure control among adults by increasing access to and use of high-quality hypertension services that are sustainable and scalable.

- Shared Value Partnership: Healthy Markets and MTV Vietnam
In Vietnam, the USAID/PATH Healthy Markets project is collaborating with MTV Vietnam to empower young people to prevent and manage HIV. Healthy Markets and MTV Vietnam have now reached more than 1.5 million people with information about new services and products, like community-based HIV testing and pre-exposure prophylaxis, and is encouraging open conversations about HIV, safe sex, and being LGBT+ in Vietnam.

- Introducing Fortified Rice in Myanmar
This fact sheet provides an overview of PATH’s project to introduce fortified rice in Myanmar. The goal of the project is to reduce micronutrient deficiencies in the population while also creating income-generating opportunities. PATH is working with government and private-sector partners to create a thriving private market for fortified rice and to distribute it to vulnerable populations.

- Advancing Childhood Tuberculosis Control in Vietnam
PATH and Johnson & Johnson Vietnam are collaborating on Breath for Life, a new project to reduce childhood tuberculosis (TB) illness and death in Vietnam. Breath for life will strengthen the detection, treatment, and management of TB in children in NgheAn, a province highly burdened by TB, in partnership with the Vietnam National Tuberculosis Programme.

- Early Enteropathogenic E. Coli Infections Associated With Growth Faltering at 24 Months of Age in Urban Bangladesh
E. coli pathotypes are among the leading causes of child diarrhea, and early enteropathogen exposure has been associated with child stunting. This study examined the frequency of pathogenic E. coli infection from birth to 6 months in Bangladesh, and identified strains associated with linear growth at 24 months.

- Improving Timely Immunization Rates in Vietnam With a Digital Immunization Registry—ImmReg
PATH has worked to improve immunization rates in Vietnam by developing a digital immunization registry. ImmReg saves time, reduces errors, and improves on-time immunization rates by digitizing records and sending vaccination reminders to clients’ mobile phones. From 2016, ImmReg was integrated into the government-led National Immunization Information System in Vietnam.

- What Is the Cost? Pediatric Cryptosporidiosis in Peru, Bangladesh, and Kenya
Cryptosporidium is an intestinal protozoan parasite that can cause diarrheal disease in young children. The economic burden of cryptosporidiosis has been poorly characterized. This study aimed to describe the economic impact of cryptosporidiosis on families and communities in low-resource settings, and identify data gaps to inform objectives for future analyses.

- Advancing the Ellavi Uterine Balloon Tamponade (UBT): A Low-Cost UBT Designed Specifically for Treatment of Postpartum Hemorrhage
Uterine balloon tamponades (UBT) are an effective, safe, and easy to use intervention to manage severe postpartum hemorrhage, the leading cause of maternal death. PATH and Sinapi biomedical, a South African medical device manufacturer, are advancing the Ellavi UBT—a low-cost, fully assembled UBT designed specifically for use in low-resource health facilities.

- Menstrual Hygiene Management Messaging Framework
Menstruation is a basic biological process for girls and women, yet many in India face challenges with managing menstruation, largely due to taboos and restrictions, including the availability and affordability of menstrual hygiene products and systems for safe disposal. This messaging framework provides overarching themes and talking points on menstrual hygiene management for most audiences. They put spokespersons and advocates on common ground so individuals and groups can echo and reinforce each other through their advocacy and outreach efforts.

- Stronger Markets, Increased Access to Essential Maternal Health Supplies
Pregnant women in low- and middle-income countries have inadequate access to lifesaving maternal health products, resulting in preventable deaths when complications arise during pregnancy or childbirth. Healthy markets are essential to improving access to these products. This series of advocacy papers provides specific and actionable recommendations that advocates and decision-makers—globally and in three target countries: Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Nigeria—can use to raise awareness of the urgent actions needed and push for positive policy change to improve the quality and availability of essential maternal health products.

- HIV Self-Testing in Vietnam
PATH’s Healthy Markets project, funded by USAID, has worked with the Ministry of Health, public and private clinics, and community-based organizations to introduce HIV self-testing into Vietnam for the first time. HIV self-testing offers a private, confidential, and convenient testing option, particularly those who face social barriers to HIV services. This fact sheet provides early results of this pilot program.

- Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine Introduction and Sustainability in the Mekong Region

- Prepped for PrEP!
PATH’s Healthy Markets project, funded by USAID, has introduced oral HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)—a powerful HIV prevention tool—into Vietnam for the first time. PATH is working with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, public and private clinics, and community-based organizations to enable those most at risk of HIV to access PrEP and prevent new HIV infections.

- Using mHealth to Combat Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis Across Vietnam
Between 2013 and 2015, PATH tested a web- and mobile-based application that links local health care workers to the National Tuberculosis (TB) Treatment management database and sends short message service (SMS) text reminders to patients. In 2017, the Vietnam Ministry of Health decided to scale this system up nationwide using their own resources. This fact sheet details how the system supports TB treatment adherence and describes the journey from pilot to nationwide system.

- Overview of Gavi Full Country Evaluations Findings
The Gavi Full Country Evaluations was a prospective study from 2013 to 2016 in four countries: Bangladesh, Mozambique, Uganda, and Zambia. The study aimed to understand and quantify the barriers and drivers of immunization program improvements, with a focus on the contributions made by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
