Developing New Vaccines Against Pneumonia and Other Pneumococcal Diseases

Maternal Influenza Immunization: Lessons From Vaccine Introduction and Use in El Salvador

This publication describes PATH’s efforts to examine the use and acceptability of maternal influenza immunization in El Salvador. The qualitative study captures the perspectives of pregnant women, family decision makers, community leaders, public health practitioners, private physicians, and more. The report identifies both successful strategies as well as challenges to vaccine uptake, and offers recommendations for countries considering the introduction of maternal influenza immunization.

Monitoring the Introduction of Subcutaneous DMPA

From 2014 to 2016, PATH coordinated pilot introduction of the injectable contraceptive subcutaneous DMPA (DMPA-SC, brand name Sayana® Press) in Burkina Faso, Niger, Senegal, and Uganda. Shared Value Partnership: Healthy Markets and MTV Vietnam

In Vietnam, the USAID/PATH Healthy Markets project is collaborating with MTV Vietnam to empower young people to prevent and manage HIV. Healthy Markets and MTV Vietnam have now reached more than 1.5 million people with information about new services and products, like community-based HIV testing and pre-exposure prophylaxis, and is encouraging open conversations about HIV, safe sex, and being LGBT+ in Vietnam.

Blow-Fill-Seal Containers

Blow-fill-seal (BFS) technologies use a polymer material to form the container. BFS is widely used for packaging of single-dose pharmaceuticals, but has yet to be introduced for vaccines. The BFS manufacturing process can accommodate the filling of multiple containers into a single strip with a flexible detachment point, allowing for the easy separation of each unit-dose container at the point of delivery.
