- Host-Targeted Therapies for Acute Secretory Diarrhea: A Survey of Clinical-Stage Drug Candidates Across Multiple Pathogenic Mechanisms
Host antisecretory targets are a promising treatment option for easing the symptoms of diarrheal disease and addressing shortcomings of existing therapies. This poster presentation from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene 2016 Annual Meeting summarizes the results of tests comparing several clinical-stage drug candidates that have the potential to treat acute secretory diarrhea.

- Congenital Syphilis in Nigeria, Zambia, and India: Identifying Policy Pathways to Eliminate Mother-to-Child Transmission of Syphilis
Syphilis remains a serious health threat for pregnant women and newborns, though elimination of mother-to-child transmission (EMTCT) of syphilis is within reach. This paper, focusing on Nigeria, Zambia, and India, provides policy recommendations to strengthen commitment to EMTCT of syphilis and advance solutions that expand access to high-quality services.

- Making Information Dissemination Actionable: Demonstration of Approach to Disseminate Health Facility Assessment Result
PATH, in partnership with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) assessed 154 health facilities in four regions to evaluate newborn infrastructure and service delivery as part of the Making Every Baby Count Initiative (MEBCI). Project leaders disseminated their findings in each region and presented the information at the American Evaluation Association conference in October 2016.

- Eliminating Mother-to-Child Transmission of Syphilis: A Healthy Start to Life in Zambia
In Zambia, the continued prevalence of congenital syphilis is a risk to newborns, and can cause premature birth, low birth weight, birth defects, and even newborn death. When pregnant women are tested for syphilis, however, service providers can treat the infection and prevent transmission to newborns. PATH is focusing advocacy efforts on the scale-up of a newly available rapid syphilis test, which offers a low-cost, easy-to-use screening option.
