Prevention of Postpartum Hemorrhage Job Aids

The USAID-funded Prevention of Postpartum Hemorrhage Initiative has six developed job aids to help educate individuals about the harmful effects of postpartum hemorrhage and the proper use of active management of the third stage of labor. Promoting Home Water Treatment Through Antenatal Clinics in Malawi: Qualitative Research Findings

PATH’s Safe Water Project joined a number of partners in an effort to monitor and better understand the increased use of a water-treatment product, WaterGuard, among groups of new mothers in Malawi. The chlorine-based water treatment product was made available to pregnant women at antenatal care clinics as part of a hygiene kit. Uptake and use of the product rose sharply, not only among these women, but also among friends and relatives. PATH conducted qualitative research involving in-depth interviews to better understand why this uptake occurred.

PATH’s Safe Water Project is implementing innovative methods to enable commercial enterprises to produce, distribute, sell, and maintain effective household water treatment and storage products for low-income populations in multiple developing countries around the world. This project brief summarizes the findings of PATH's work with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to investigate the effects of an innovative program that promoted a chlorine disinfectant for treatment of water at home to pregnant women seeking antenatal care.

Protecting Aluminum-Adjuvanted Vaccines From Freeze Damage

This overview describes how PATH has developed a low-cost and straightforward technology for protecting aluminum-adjuvanted liquid vaccines from the irreversible damage that results from freezing. Many current vaccines of importance to global health contain an aluminum salt adjuvant or its equivalent (such as aluminum hydroxide, aluminum phosphate, or calcium phosphate) and would benefit from the technology.

Public-Private Mix for TB Control: Indian Chemists Join National Efforts to Find and Treat More Cases of TB

This project brief describes PATH’s contributions to developing public-private mix (PPM) approaches to TB control in India. With support from the United States Agency for International Development, PATH supported a PPM pilot project in Andhra Pradesh that aimed to train private chemists in identifying presumed TB cases and referring them to government diagnosis centers, promoting community awareness of TB prevention, and reducing the sale of TB drugs to persons without a prescription. This project provided valuable lessons and insights into applying PPM strategies to future TB control projects in India and elsewhere.

Quantification Tool for Neonatal Resuscitation Devices: Version 1

This national-level quantification tool can be used to develop estimated needs for newborn resuscitation devices. It is designed only to provide estimates of product quantities for planning and cost simulations and is not intended for planning detailed distribution. There are two Excel-based formats of the tool: The enhanced format includes simple design elements, such as graphics and navigation arrows, to guide users through the tool. The standard format retains the cell-based formatting of a traditional Excel file. Both versions contain the same information and formulas and will yield the same data. We invite users to choose the presentation that best meets their needs.
