ProVIC: Integrated HIV/AIDS Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), PATH and our partners are working from the ground up to better link people to HIV and other health services through the five-year ProVIC project. Our programmatic approach includes working through “champion communities” to link people with integrated HIV prevention, care, and support services. This flyer has two sides: one in English and the other in French. It is also available divided into each language.

Reaching Out-of-School Youth in Uganda with Sexual and Reproductive Health Information and Services

This case study describes PATH's work with three implementing partners -- the Family Planning Association of Uganda, Uganda Red Cross Society, and Ndere Troupe -- that carried out the African Youth Alliance's out-of-school component in Uganda. The activity was designed to reach 22,000 youth in 12 districts with sexuality and reproductive health education, including HIV and AIDS, information about assessing youth-friendly services, and opportunities to strengthen developmental skills. This innovative and comprehensive strategy successfully reached thousands of Ugandan youth who were no longer in school.

Research on Adolescent Health in Kenya and Uganda

This report summarizes the results of a formative assessment conducted with Kenyan and Ugandan youth 12 to 15 years of age on their behavior, knowledge, opinions, social experiences, and information sources regarding sexuality and HIV. The report also offers recommendations for refining program activities and developing appropriate messages and educational materials. The report was produced by PATH and the Kenya and Uganda Scouts Associations as part of the Scouting for Solutions project.

Strengthening Communities' Responses to HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia

The Strengthening Communities’ Responses to HIV/AIDS project is a 3-year contract funded by USAID, with two 1-year option periods. PATH is the prime contractor and is joined by four international partners and several local partners. The goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of civil-society organizations to improve access and quality of HIV care and support services, including counseling and testing and treatment-adherence activities within communities, so that health outcomes for HIV-positive Ethiopians and their dependents are improved.

Strengthening Human Milk Banking

PATH is working to promote human milk banking to improve nutrition for infants who are especially vulnerable, such as those in resource-limited settings who are pre-term, low birthweight, severely malnourished, born to HIV-positive mothers, or orphaned. These briefs provide an overview of why human milk banking is important and how it can be integrated within breastfeeding strategies.
