Pilot Use of Oxytocin in a Uniject™ Device for AMTSL in Mali

This report describes use of the Uniject™ device prefilled with 10 international units (IU) of oxytocin for actively managing the third stage of labor in selected health centers in Mali. Although this single-dose, autodisable injection device has previously been used for tetanus toxoid vaccination in Mali, the Ministry of Health lacked documentation of the safety and feasibility of using the device to deliver oxytocin for active management of the third stage of labor (AMTSL).

Practical Selection of Neonatal Resuscitators, Version 3: A Field Guide

PATH has evaluated a variety of reusable neonatal resuscitators, including both bag-and-mask and tube-and-mask designs. This guide is divided into two sections: the first identifies resuscitators that are priced at less than US$30 each, and the second identifies those that are priced at more than $30 each. It also describes the criteria used during the device evaluation, evaluation results for each device, and suggestions for choosing a resuscitator. The guide is available in two formats: one for booklet-style printing and one for onscreen viewing.

Practical Selection of Neonatal Resuscitators: Southern African Development Community

PATH conducted a market study in 2008 to identify neonatal resuscitators available in the Southern African Development Community region. These resuscitators are included in this region-specific version of Practical Selection of Neonatal Resuscitators. All resuscitators identified were bag-and-mask designs. Also included are two devices that offer a tube-and-mask design. This guide presents the criteria used during the device evaluation, evaluation results for each device, and suggestions for choosing a resuscitator. Prevention of Postpartum Hemorrhage Job Aids

Printing Template for the Nevirapine Infant-Dose Pouch Label

These labels for the nevirapine infant-dose pouch give instructions for handling and administering the medication; they include a place for health workers to record the expiration date. These labels are available in the following formats: English-language for A4-sized label stock, English-language for 8 ? x 11-inch label stock, and Kiswahili-language for A4-sized label stock.

Quantification Tool for Neonatal Resuscitation Devices: Version 1

This national-level quantification tool can be used to develop estimated needs for newborn resuscitation devices. It is designed only to provide estimates of product quantities for planning and cost simulations and is not intended for planning detailed distribution. There are two Excel-based formats of the tool: The enhanced format includes simple design elements, such as graphics and navigation arrows, to guide users through the tool. The standard format retains the cell-based formatting of a traditional Excel file. Both versions contain the same information and formulas and will yield the same data. We invite users to choose the presentation that best meets their needs.

Strengthening Human Milk Banking

PATH is working to promote human milk banking to improve nutrition for infants who are especially vulnerable, such as those in resource-limited settings who are pre-term, low birthweight, severely malnourished, born to HIV-positive mothers, or orphaned. These briefs provide an overview of why human milk banking is important and how it can be integrated within breastfeeding strategies.
