This paper is the first in a series that will demonstrate how nonprofit product development organizations work to advance research and development for poverty-related and neglected diseases and conditions in low- and middle-income countries. This series is meant to inform global policy and financing debates, including but not limited to discussions on the recommendations outlined in the 2012 report from the WHO Consultative Expert Working Group on research and development.
