PATH's president named Global Health Research Ambassador

What is a Global Health Research Ambassador? It is the prestigious title bestowed upon 27 of the nation’s foremost experts in global health, united in advocating for greater US investment in global health research. The inaugural class of Ambassadors in the Paul G. Rogers Society for Global Health Research includes PATH President Christopher J. Elias, MD, MPH.

“I’m honored to be selected as an Ambassador,” said Dr. Elias. “The team is composed of individuals with whom I’m proud to be associated, and the Ambassador program mission is closely aligned with PATH’s—making the case for greater investment in fighting diseases that disproportionately affect the world’s poorest nations. This is a great opportunity to bring global health problems to a broader audience, generating awareness that can result in new capital and grants essential to improving health in the poorest regions of the world.”

Research!America, for whose chair emeritus the society is named, will provide advocacy leadership development to the Ambassadors and facilitate their public outreach and advocacy through speaking engagements and a range of community-level activities to connect with policymakers, opinion leaders, the media, and the public nationwide.
